GUIDED PLAY EVENTS 2012

Following our successful Community Forum bid we have directed funds towards organising 6 themed guided play sessions over the next 6 months.  We are asking for a contribution of £1 per family for each of these sessions - thank you.

Monday 25th June
9.30 - 10.30 Treasure baskets 0 - 12months
11.00 - 12.00 Treasure baskets 12 - 18months

These sessions will help you and your baby explore natural and everyday objects you will find around the home and explain how they will stimulate your baby's senses and help them understand the world around them.

Places will be limited to 12 in each session so do please reserve your place in advance.

The remainder of the sessions will fall on the 12th of the month so be sure to mark them in your diary!

Thursday 12th July
4.00 - 6.00 pm Physical Play 3 - 5 yrs (active under 3's can also come along!)

This session is designed to show how important physical play is for toddlers and young children in terms of body strengthening, balance and coordination.

This session will be followed by our last Thursday evening opening before the summer holidays - 6.00 - 7.30pm

Wednesday 12th September
12.30 - 1.30 pm Communication under 2's
2.00 - 3.00 pm Communication over 2's

Communication sessions will look at the importance of talking with and to your child helping them make sounds, form words and learn from those around them.  We will explore books and story telling supported by our Story Sacks which will be available to borrow after the sessions.

Friday 12th October
1.00 - 3.00 pm - Helping children play - Schemas

Each child be they boy or girl will play in a certain way - some like climbing, some will like to put things in bags and carry them around, some will arrange things in rows and for others it could be kicking and throwing balls - this session will throw light on these preferences and give ideas on how to extend learning and development in a way that fits naturally with your child.

Monday 12th November
10.30 - 12.00 Physical Play & Tummy time under 2's

As with the session for older children we will be looking at muscle strengthening and the importance of developing motion and coordination in younger children.


Wednesday 12th December
1.00 - 3.00 - Musical Bumps

Bringing all aspects of communication, physical movement and social interaction together with a guided music session led by Angela Bogie from Musical Bumps - with a bit of Christmas cheer thrown in!


Reservations can be made for these sessions by signing in at the toy library to book your slot.
